MISSION
The mission of the VTT/MSI Molecular Sciences Institute is to enable the quantitative prediction of the behaviors of biological systems. In accomplishing its mission the Institute will significantly advance understanding of how living systems function and evolve, and will have positive effects on human health, well-being and the bioeconomy.
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
Nobel-prize winner Sydney Brenner founded the Institute in 1996 as an independent, nonprofit research institute. In 2011 the Institute was re-named the VTT/MSI Molecular Sciences Institute. Today the Institute specializes in understanding the quantitative behavior of biological systems. The laboratory is located in Berkeley, CA and is a 501(c)(3) organization.
